Meet Tammy de Laforest

With a formal education in Cultural Anthropology, Kinesology and marketing, 10 years in a variety of sales marketing and management positions, a childhood playing classical violin and 15 years competing in boxing and now a Muay Thai coach yoga teacher and certified hypnotist, Tammy has a unique skill set to offer.

Having spent the past 25 years involved in combat sports as an athlete and coach, Tammy de Laforest is now enjoying using her skills to help others discover their strengths.  Tammy started boxing in 1992 shortly after females were permitted to compete in Canada.  Being a pioneer in the sport, she witnessed and participated in the growth of female boxing from it's beginnings to the first World Championships.  Having never been an athlete and self described as a bit 'shy, awkward and clumsy', Tammy's own personal growth through participation in Boxing helped her to become a strong confident role model to those around her.  During her years as a competitive boxer, Tammy had over 50 boxing matches winning Saskatchewan, Western Canadian and National Championships as well as a Silver Medal at World Championships.

After retiring from boxing and beginning to coach, Tammy discovered Muay Thai.  Realizing that her competitive drive was still something she wanted to explore, she decided to delve into the competitive world of Muay Thai.  Tammy has competed in Canada and Thailand in Muay Thai, and has traveled to Thailand to train and fine tune her skills on six occasions for a month at a time. She has trained with the “Muhammed Ali” of Thai, Ajarn Apidej Sit--in addition to champion trainer Craig Moser.  She now coaches at Siam Muay Thai & Kickboxing in Regina Saskatchewan.

Loving the power and confidence that one develops in sports like Boxing and Muay Thai, Tammy was also drawn to the balancing softer healing approach of Yoga.  Having experienced the physical and mental benefits of including Yoga in her own training, she decided she would love to share these benefits with others.  In 2013, Tammy became a Certified Yoga Instructor and graduate of Yandara Yoga Institute and has been teaching yoga at Siam Muay Thai gym, Oxygen Yoga and fitness and various other places around Regina.

Being described as someone easy to talk to with a calming approachable personality, Tammy has found that many of her training sessions also became a space where clients were feeling comfortable sharing life challenges and asking for advice.  Feeling honored to hold that space yet wanting to be able to offer more, Tammy began to research hypnosis and hypnotherapy.  By 2016 she was convinced that she would get the education to also offer hypnosis as an option to her clients.  In 2018 Tammy trained under Heather Rodriguez and is now a member of the Hypnotherapy Institute of Saskatchewan, and a Certified Hypnotist with the National Guild of Hypnotists Inc.
